Terms of use
These terms cover the Odie website and the Odie iPhone app. They are written to be read, not skimmed. If anything here is unclear, write to support@odielog.com.
Who we are
Odie is made by an independent developer in Montréal, Québec. “We” and “us” in these terms means the developer of Odie.
Your data is yours
Everything you record in Odie (trips, routes, tags, expenses, receipts, odometer readings, places, vehicles) belongs to you. It is stored on your iPhone and, if you leave iCloud sync on, in your own private iCloud database. We do not have access to it, we do not claim any rights over it, and you can export or delete it at any time.
No account is created
Odie does not ask you to register and does not create an account for you on any server of ours. There is therefore no account to suspend, and no terms about passwords or usernames. If you sign in to iCloud on your phone, that relationship is between you and Apple under Apple’s terms.
Tax outcomes are your responsibility
Odie helps you keep a record of your driving and works out amounts from rates you choose. It is not tax advice, and we are not accountants. Rates can change, the built-in rate tables can go out of date, and a logbook is only as good as the tags you give it. Check the figures, keep your receipts, and talk to a tax professional before you file. You are responsible for what you claim.
Automatic detection can miss
Odie relies on your car’s Bluetooth, the phone’s motion sensor and location services. Any of these can fail: the phone may be off, permissions may change, the car may not pair, or iOS may stop the app if you force quit it. Review your trips and log by hand anything that was missed. We do not promise that every trip will be recorded.
Warranty and liability
Odie and this website are provided as they are. To the extent the law allows, we make no warranty about fitness for a particular purpose and we are not liable for lost data, missed deductions, penalties, or other losses that come from using or not being able to use the app. Nothing in these terms removes rights that consumer protection law gives you and that cannot be waived, including under the Québec Consumer Protection Act.
Using the app and the site
You may use Odie for your own driving records, personal or business. Do not try to reverse engineer the app beyond what the law permits, redistribute it, or use the site’s content to pass off another product as Odie. The site’s text and images are ours unless noted; the press kit may be used to write about Odie.
Changes
If we change these terms, the date at the top changes too. Meaningful changes will be noted on this page. Using the app or the site after a change means you accept the new terms.
August 24, 2026: “we” now refers to the developer of Odie by role rather than by name. The substance of the terms did not change.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Québec and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. Any dispute will be heard in the courts of the judicial district of Montréal, subject to any rule of law that gives you the right to go elsewhere.
