Odie in one sentence
Odie is an iPhone mileage log that records every work drive by itself and hands your accountant one PDF at tax time.
Odie is an automatic mileage log for iPhone, for people who drive for work in Canada and the United States: contractors, real estate agents, delivery drivers and other self-employed workers. It recognises the user’s own car over Bluetooth or CarPlay, confirms driving with the motion sensor and records the trip without a tap. When the trip ends, the card on the Lock Screen asks Work or Personal, and routes the user always marks the same way are classified on the phone. At tax time it builds the year report, in kilometres at the CRA rate or in miles at the IRS standard rate, as a PDF and CSV. There is no account and no analytics, and it works in English and French.

- Automatic classification: when the last eight trips on a route were all marked the same way, Odie classifies the next one by itself, on the phone, marked Auto, and one tap changes it.
- CarPlay: Odie recognises the car over CarPlay, wired or wireless, as well as over Bluetooth and the car’s own Wi-Fi.
- The trip card on the Lock Screen has Work and Personal buttons, and stays after the trip to ask. On iOS 26 and later it also shows on the CarPlay dashboard.
- Siri and Shortcuts: “Mark my last trip as Work in Odie”, and an optional automation that starts the trip the moment CarPlay connects.
- A month review with a one-month PDF statement, free, and a per-vehicle table in the year report for people with more than one car.

Odie is built and supported by one person: Taylor Brown, an independent developer in Montréal, Québec.
It started as a notes file. Driving to client sites around Montréal, Taylor filled in the mileage log from memory at the end of each month. The trackers Taylor tried wanted an account and permission to follow every move, and they still logged metro rides and split a drive at every gas stop.
Odie is the opposite: it waits for the car, asks one question when the trip ends, and keeps everything on the phone. It has no server because it does not need one, and it is in English and French because Québec is home.
Taylor writes the app, the site and the answers to support email. Version 1.0.6 was road-tested in Taylor’s own truck over wireless CarPlay before it shipped.
