A MileIQ alternative for drivers in Canada
MileIQ now costs $13.99 a month or $139.99 a year after 40 free drives, and it is English only. If that sent you looking, here is what matters in a replacement on this side of the border, and where Odie fits.

What to look for in a replacement
Most trackers were built for the IRS first. Canada has its own rules, and they are not hard, but an app has to know them.
CRA two-tier rate built in
The CRA pays one rate for the first 5,000 km and a lower one after. For 2026 that is 73¢ then 67¢, with 4¢ more in the territories. A tracker that only knows a flat rate will get your number wrong.
A logbook the CRA will accept
Date, destination, purpose and distance for each trip, plus odometer readings at the start and end of the year. Check that the export has all five.
Trips that start without you
The point of an automatic tracker is that you do not have to remember. Ask how the app knows you are in your car and not on the bus.
Where the data goes
Read the App Store privacy label before you read the marketing. A mileage log is a map of your days.

How Odie differs
Odie starts a trip when your car’s hands-free Bluetooth shows up and the iPhone’s motion sensor confirms you are driving. When the car disappears, the trip ends. You tag it Work or Personal with one tap on the lock screen.
The CRA two-tier rate is built in for 2024 to 2026, with each trip priced at the rate of its date. French is built in. The year report is a PDF and a CSV with a summary, a monthly table, a per-client table, expenses, the trip log and your odometer bounds.
There is no account. Trips live on your iPhone, and if you leave iCloud sync on they also live in your private iCloud database, which we cannot read. The app has no third-party SDKs and no network code of its own.

Questions
Can I import my MileIQ drives into Odie?
No. Odie has no importer for other apps, and we would rather say so plainly than promise one. Export your MileIQ history as a PDF or spreadsheet for your records, then start a fresh log in Odie from a date you choose.
Will I lose my logbook if I switch mid-year?
No, as long as you keep the old export. The CRA asks for a record of each trip and odometer readings at the start and end of the year. Two exports covering two halves of the year, plus your odometer readings, still add up to a full record. Keep both.
How much will Odie cost?
We have not announced a price yet. What we can say is that there is no account, so there is nothing that expires or locks you out of your own trips.
Does Odie work on Android or the web?
No. Odie is an iPhone app, iOS 17 or later. There is no web dashboard and no team plan, because your trips never leave the phone except through your own private iCloud sync.
