Odie vs Everlance
Everlance is an established tracker aimed first at the United States, with a web dashboard, expense tools and team plans. Odie is a newer iPhone app built first for Canada: CRA rates and French are in from the start, trips stay on the phone, and there is no account and no analytics. Here is how the two line up.
| Question | Odie | Everlance |
|---|---|---|
| How a trip starts | By itself when your car’s hands-free Bluetooth appears and motion confirms you are driving. Motion-only mode for cars that do not pair. | GPS detects movement at about 5 mph. |
| Account needed | No. Nothing to sign up for. | Yes, an account is required. |
| Third-party analytics in the app | None. No third-party SDKs at all. | The App Store label lists Data Used to Track You. |

Who should pick Everlance
People who need Android or a web dashboard, teams that reimburse staff, and US drivers who want expense tracking tied to a larger platform. Everlance has been around for years and has a large support library.
Who should pick Odie
Drivers in Canada who want the CRA two-tier rate without typing it in, French, and an app that detects the car rather than guessing from speed. Also anyone who would rather not create an account or have tracking code in a mileage app.
Questions
Why does Odie wait for the car instead of using GPS speed?
Speed alone cannot tell a car from a bus or a bike. Odie starts when your car’s Bluetooth shows up and the motion sensor agrees you are driving, so trips in someone else’s vehicle are far less likely to be logged.
Can I import my Everlance data?
Not today. Odie has no importer for other apps. Keep your old exports and begin a clean log in Odie from a chosen date.
Is Odie available now?
Not yet. Odie is in the final stretch before launch. Leave your email on the support page and you will hear when it ships.
